Trying to follow up Thursday 63-52 win vs the Portland Pilots, USD came into Saturday night hoping to build momentum before the West Coast Conference Tournament coming up in two weeks in Las Vegas. Unfortunately for the Toreros, they could not overcome a poor offensive effort. The 46 points are the lowest the team has scored in over two years.
USD struggled all night offensively, shooting just 29 percent from the field and 5-of-18 from 3-point range. St Mary’s on the other hand, shot 46 percent for the game and a whopping 54 percent in the second half.
The loss drops the Toreros to 17-12 overall and a disappointing 6-8 in WCC play. The team will look to bounce back this Thursday at San Francisco before wrapping up the regular season on Saturday at BYU.
