Politics in the Pub LIVE - The Future Of Civic Technology

Pod #4 is finally here and after a sobering up month of confirmations, indictments and 14 days of jail time (not for us of course, well not yet - the authoritarian state has not been truly established where extremely questionable civil disobedience can have you locked up).

This month we are nerding out about what the future of civic engagement and campaigning might look like with all of the advances in tech. I think the best use at this present moment in time is a truth app that can be used in Senate Judicial Committee hearings and one where Judge Kavanaugh isn't single handedly trying to destroy our whole having a quiet beer while trying to improve civil discourse angle.

I mean we might have to change our name to sips and civility if it wasn't already taken and THEY HAVE THEIR EVENTS THE SAME NIGHT AS US. But hey I'm not bitter, far from it. I am sampling the delightful New England style Double IPA from Black Market Brewing up in Temecula. Super interesting brew - ice cream infusion is a questionable endeavor but it stacks up and stacks up well.

So what could the future of tech look like? Bernie vs Biden hologram debates in 2070? Chelsea Clinton being lambasted for a use of an illegal blockchain server?

BUT HER VOIPs!! - probably not.

This was an amazing episode where we got to hear from some pretty innovative technologists including Ben Katz Chief Architect at ISPolitical.com, ex Googler and UCSD prof Lilly Irani, equity coder Oren Robinson and Vilavanh Sanginthirath from Innovations City about what to expect in the next few years and beyond as the campaign shifts from traditional media to a new digital battleground and how tech such as VR/AR/AI are shaping up as gamechangers for organizers the world over.

Get ready for some new acronyms, drink some beer and let us collectively ponder what a future war for humanity with Skynet looks like (p.s. No-one laughed at any of my skynet comments during this episode because apparently binary jokes in html are lost on some people).

Don't forget about our next Pod on October 16 on Housing Policy and then our biggest most audacious recording to date on November 6th where we will have not 1, but 2 election night specials in downtown San Diego. I promise this will be a special night...all your favorite segments, endorsed candidates from the Progressive PAC and more. Tickets on sale now via Movement Builder thats MVMTbuilder.com

Now let’s go live at 32 North with our latest episode of Politics In The Pub.
