Politics in the Pub LIVE - Housing Policy We Can Believe In!

Hello and welcome to the fifth edition of the politics in the pub podcast! My name is Dike Anyiwo and unlike my co-host Ryan Ginard who tends to open these shows with wonderful words that include a confession of whichever beer he happens to sipping on at the moment, I am drinking tea this morning as I record this longwinded introduction.

When Ryan and I first started brainstorming about what this pod could be, we agreed that it had to be anchored in relevance. There is no more relevant topic of discussion in California and in San Diego in particular than housing. Whether you approach from the costs of building angle, the affordability of rent, the uphill ascent of attempting to buy, housing for college students, zoning and supply issues or even from the homelessness perspective, the ability for people to find and maintain shelter is one of humanity’s most basic needs.

Housing impacts us all in one way or another, and there is no better panel to tackle that topic than the one assembled for this episode. Maya Rosas and Stefanie Benvenuto are two of San Diego’s leading ladies in the fight to fix our housing problems, and what is apparent in this discussion is that not only are they professionals in this industry, but they are both also incredibly passionate about what San Diego becomes in the weeks, months and years to come.

So sit back, pour up and dive into this discussion about all things housing. Live from Bay City Brewing in Point Loma, its Politics in the Pub!
